Early Warning Signs Of Dementia In Men

Dementia is a scary condition. It’s a scary one. It affects the brain and takes away all of the man’s control. None is going to be left. Dementia is a sad condition for everyone. When it’s left alone, it’s not good. The man can disappear in the blink of an eye. Not good. Too many are in nursing homes for dementia patients. Almost all need therapy for dementia patients. Finding the signs early can help men avoid this.

Poor Concentration

Dreamstime

For many, many men, dementia starts with unfair mistakes in their concentration. Boring tasks will be harder to finish. Their ability to memorize information is not good, not good at all. Men will miss even seconds of the football game. They may miss the winning goal when their attention wanders away. Workdays will be longer and harder. Hobbies will become less fun. People think changes in concentration are going to happen. What’s tough is knowing when they mean dementia is rising. But men know. They always know. These changes are huge after all, and there’s no missing them. It’s simply not possible.

Loss Of Memory

Dreamstime

Every man can remember small details, they’re geniuses after all. But dementia often makes men lose their sharp memory. They may believe they’re younger than they are. They may forget people they’ve met recently or think their child is someone else.

Everyone knows that memory loss because of dementia is more than forgetting people. They’ll believe what happened years ago was yesterday. Many men will perform tasks multiple times, such as rechecking fuel gauges when getting gas. Men will change their clothes before leaving the house or may take medication more than once. These are dangerous mistakes. Very dangerous. Men, you know what to do: get to a doctor now.

Personality Changes

Dreamstime

Dementia changes the brain. Everyone’s saying these personality changes are tough. But these huge changes don’t happen overnight. Men start to lose interest in their hobbies. What’s important to them will shift. Their behavior will not be good. The changes will be unpredictable. A man’s impulses will be out of control. When men are in pain, they will lash out in major, major ways. Stress triggers anger too. Confusion will often equal anger in dementia. Men have staggering odds stacked against them. Fighting back against these personality changes must start early. The earlier this happens, the better it is for men.

Increased Confusion

Dreamstime

Men are not confused. They know what they’re doing. However, all of this changes when a nasty enemy like dementia is in the picture. Too many brush off confusion early, but this is a mistake. Men will forget what they’re doing while they’re doing it. They may not remember where they were going or where they are.

Any increases in confusion are massive warning signs. They might cause dangerous decisions, and men may forget to eat and wash themselves. Men can’t let dementia take hold of them. Everyone knows acting early is the best to stop dementia in its tracks. It’ll get this horse back in the stable for as long as possible.

Withdrawal

Dreamstime

Men with dementia often withdraw from others. They won’t care anymore, or they’ll pretend not to out of frustration. Everyone is saying that many, many of them lose interest in their hobbies. They’ll lose interest in relationships too. Men will end up feeling sad, very very sad. They may not move very much at all. The withdrawal and the lack of interest in hobbies normally progress slowly. But big changes, big jumps, are possible. Huge jumps in withdrawal mean the dementia is worse, much worse than thought. It is moving faster than normal. It’s far past the time for men to act at this point.
