Men with dementia often withdraw from others. They won’t care anymore, or they’ll pretend not to out of frustration. Everyone is saying that many, many of them lose interest in their hobbies. They’ll lose interest in relationships too. Men will end up feeling sad, very very sad. They may not move very much at all. The withdrawal and the lack of interest in hobbies normally progress slowly. But big changes, big jumps, are possible. Huge jumps in withdrawal mean the dementia is worse, much worse than thought. It is moving faster than normal. It’s far past the time for men to act at this point.
